100 Views of Ukiyo-e is my mission to re-create 100 Ukiyo-e prints as new “original” paintings.

The first volume of this series was part of my Magister’s thesis, completed between 2009 and 2011. After presenting the works in Europe, the US, and Japan, I paused to step back from academia, where the process became too rigid. The freedom to make errors, which bring life to art, was lost.

The Great Wave series helped me break free and explore a more spontaneous approach. Now, in 2019, I’m continuing 100 Views of Ukiyo-e without predefined techniques or themes. Each painting will develop organically.
