New website, new commission, new work in progress

Welcome to my new web site, feel free to browse around and if you find any errors, please let me know. It took me some time to merge old web site with shop but I think that this new version of my website was worth it. An old one was getting really old and less functional. This one follows trends that have been established in the last 5 years, although I still honor some old school elements. I have been doing websites since 1996, from fully animated ones to massive text presentations. There was a time when I had Adobe After Effects, Dreamweaver and Flash opened on my PC all the time. Luckily those times are gone. I am privileged to say that, a part from occasional editing and design I do, most of the time I spend in my atelier in front of canvas or some other paintable surface. So some elements of my web site honor those times and I refuse to be submerged into popularity of now. I hope you will like the way I served my artwork for you.

Also, I had my first private Exhibition of paintings “I Don’t Think We Are on Canvas Anymore“, in my atelier this year. I have snatched the title of the exhibition from Banksy, only because it really suited the artworks presented, which were painted on plexiglass, a glass and transparent PVC sheets. The exhibition went well and I must say that I am really satisfied with the number of visits and the way they responded to my newest exercise in 2.5D art (I love this term – 2.5D).

In March I had a new commission that led me to make the first step in continuation of my 100 Views of Ukiyo-e series. Please, click on the photo to continue reading about my latest add-on to the series.

In the next few weeks I will work on my new Great Wave – the Great New Prototype Wave (V0.1), which will be painted on plexiglass, 14 PVC transparent sheets and canvas. I want to see how far I can push 2.5 dimensional paintings.

Since December 2018 I have been terribly busy in the good way. I am constantly working in my atelier on new artworks. So I have to apologize to my friends, for not sending New Year´s postcards and gifts, yet. I know that work is not an excuse, but my line of thoughts always directs my thinking toward project I am doing at the time and I lose the sense of time. So don´t be surprised if those come during this summer. Thank you for your understanding.

For the end of this newsletter, I just want to wish you very productive and fruitful year, as I am having one right now.

Peace, Love,

Udon, Sake
